If you love sweet and salty popcorn (or kettle corn as it’s also known) you are going to go crazy for this Chocolate Drizzled Popcorn. Freshly popped popcorn is covered in milk or dark chocolate (your choice) and sprinkled with a little salt for the ultimate movie night snack.
I love to make a batch of stovetop popcorn to make this recipe but feel free to use air popped popcorn or even a pack of microwave or pre-popped popcorn instead.
This really is the easiest recipe to make at home. The hardest part will be trying not to eat it all while waiting for the popcorn to set!

INGREDIENTS

Here’s what you’ll need to make a batch of this chocolate drizzled popcorn (measurements listed in the full recipe at the bottom of this post)…

Olive OilPopcorn KernelsMilk or Dark ChocolateSalt

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat olive oil and two popcorn kernels in a saucepan on medium heat. Cover the saucepan and wait for the kernels to pop. This can take several minutes and that’s ok. Be patient. When they pop, you know you’re ready to go! Add the rest of the kernels in and cover the saucepan. Remove from heat immediately and give the saucepan a good shake to mix the kernels with the oil. Return to heat and wait for the popping to begin. Shake the pot at regular intervals to ensure all the kernels are popping and none get burnt. There’s a bonus arm workout here. When the popping stops, remove from heat and pour onto a tray.
Add chocolate to a microwave-safe bowl (if it’s a block, break it up first) and microwave on high in 20 second intervals, stirring well each time, until melted and smooth. Using a fork, spatula or spoon, drizzle the melted chocolate over the top of the popcorn. Give the popcorn a good stir one or two times and drizzle again to ensure it’s coated evenly.
Set aside to dry. When it’s ready, break up any clumps if desired and enjoy!

TOP TIPS

Stir the popcorn around a few times as you drizzle the chocolate over it so that you don’t end up with a bunch of popcorn that is missed in the bottom. You could definitely do a combination of white and milk or dark chocolate for an extra indulgent treat. If you’re impatient and can’t wait for the popcorn to dry at room temperature you can throw it in the fridge for 10 minutes to firm up. Feel free to use air popped popcorn or even pre-popped popcorn to drizzle chocolate over if you’d prefer. I think chocolate drizzled popcorn is best enjoyed immediately once the chocolate has dried, however, it can be stored for a few days in an airtight container.
